Standard assumptions in the Rails community:

Some of these are annoying (but only some).
Lots of these are true, but they move quickly. For example, less than a year ago, the default assumption was subversion. It’s only because git has the "web application" github that I think made it take off.
Also, I think sqlite3 is default until you start having to "scale" – then it’s MySQL.

I thought sqlite3 was only the default for development—when you move to production, you go MySQL. Or is that just me?
