I guess I’m a real blogger now…

…judging by some of the comments levelled against my last post. Like most bloggers, especially (apparently) Ruby bloggers, I’m “acting clever” while being unable to “contribute anything of substance”. Oh well. :)

More seriously, thanks to those of you who posted reasonable and kind comments to the article, though. To the more venomous, think what you want of my posts, and of me for that matter, but keep things in perspective.

I wrote the article as a bit of mind-expanding exploration, not to try to develop the Next Big Silver Bullet (nor to wantonly mix clichés). I'm ambivalent myself as to the usefulness of Higher Order Messaging (and I still can't wrap my mind around calling it that), but the implementation was an interesting kata: it let me delve a bit deeper into metaprogramming techniques, particularly building proxy objects to provide syntactic sugar—i.e., to make programs easier to understand by building abstractions.

Nothing earth-shattering, and I certainly can’t claim any originality of research. If you enjoy the mental gymnastics, great.
